Mount Rainier Physics Portal
Welcome to the home page for the Mount Rainier High School Physics program. Physics, by its very nature, is the most fundamental of all the sciences. It is the general study of the interaction of matter and energy and has countless applications in many of the other sciences. Professionals in fields such as biology, chemistry, astronomy, and geology, to name a few, will frequently utilize concepts from physics as a regular practice. The physics courses also engage students in experimental science and engineering through laboratory work and design projects. A well-rounded education in physics requires theoretical knowledge to understand the universe we live in and empirical knowledge to validate these ideas that shape the way we view the world.
